It’s Father’s Day this weekend. Lifehouse Spirital Care Coordinator Ray Lotty shared these thoughts to mark the day.
It takes a lot to be a dad. It takes courage, love, humility, strength, effort, sacrifice, the ability to learn from your mistakes, grace, forgiveness, the knowledge that you may not be perfect but that you are trying real hard, patience, compassion, and so many other qualities. Today we want to remember all of the dads out there, and those who have stepped up in order to fill a gap and to support others in a way that a dad would.
We want to celebrate the dads who are no longer with us, and the legacy that they have left in the lives of the people they have touched. We remember the dads who are travelling a journey marked by cancer, and the dads who are supporting others who are on that same journey.
On this Father’s Day we also want to acknowledge the dads of our wonderful staff and volunteers at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, and those staff and volunteers who are dads themselves.
