He is a former recipient of the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Surgeons “Surgeon Scientist” scholarship. Since completing his plastic surgery training, he has rapidly developed an international reputation as a leader in his field. Dr Farhadieh is the current chief editor of a newly published critically hailed comprehensive international plastic surgery textbook Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery: Approaches and Techniques bringing together 130 leading world authorities in their field to share their knowledge and experience. This 1200 page compendiums is used for teaching plastic surgery around the world. His own contributions are in the ares of facial aesthetic and head and neck reconstructive surgery.

Dr Farhadieh is unique in being triple board certified, holding plastic surgery fellowship qualifications from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons England as well as the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He also holds multiple subspecialty formal clinical fellowships from world leading units in London, England, in the fields of CosmeticMicrosurgery and Paediatric Plastic Surgery. He has extensively presented at international plastic surgery conferences and published in scientific surgical journals and plastic surgery textbooks over the last 18 years.

He has had a strong commitment to academic research and teaching throughout his career, completing both an undergraduate BSc(Med)Hons, as well as postgraduate (MD), full time research degrees at UNSW. He has authored multiple international, clinical, and scientific articles, as well as several plastic surgery textbook chapters on the topics of breast cosmetic surgeryfacial aesthetic surgery and head and neck reconstruction. He trained for over 13 years after becoming a doctor to complete his plastic surgery training before embarking on further subspecialty training. His postgraduate Medical Doctorate (MD) research degree was completed at UNSW, investigating molecular biological markers in head and neck cancers. He then commenced and completed his plastic surgery training in Melbourne.

He is currently a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Australian National University’s Medical School. He is also a Visiting Medical Officer at The Canberra and Calvary Hospitals where he performs major reconstructive and microsurgical procedures for breast, head and neck, hand and lower limb surgery needs.
