    Robert McMillan OAM

Robert McMillan lends substantial commercial experience to his role at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and is widely regarded for his ability to identify business trends and developments across broad corporate sectors of print and related industries.

His diverse business expertise comes from having previously owned and operated several large companies within the consumer market.

As Managing Director of the McMillan Printing Group, over a number of years Robert grew the organisation from a small operating base to being the market leader for print management and print logistics services in Australia.

Throughout this period Robert’s company regularly worked with the not-for-profit sector, from large national groups to smaller local communities, providing support through various charitable printing activities.

In 2007, he sold the McMillan Printing Group to Champ Equity, but still remains an equity holder in the larger group.

Robert has also managed a range of other business interests throughout his professional life outside of the McMillian Printing Group. This included ownership in the Edels Music store chain across major NSW shopping centres, which was eventually sold to the Brash’s retail group, as well as being a shareholder in other companies throughout his career.

Robert was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2010 for his service to the community through a range of charitable organisations.

Having first come into contact with Chris O’Brien through the illness of a family friend, Robert has since used his business experience to provide ongoing support to the development of Lifehouse, both before and after Chris’ passing.

He was appointed to the Board in 2005 and has remained steadfast that the facility will, over time, transform cancer care in Australia.

“We’ve created a state-of-the-art facility, that offers an integrated approach for patients and the support of educational programs. This will allow patients to feel more empowered and confident to focus on working towards the best possible outcome under the care of their specialist team.”
