Rebecca completed her registered nurse training in New Zealand in 2010 before moving to Sydney in 2011 where she has been a cancer nurse ever since. Rebecca has completed a Master of Clinical Nursing in Oncology/Haematology, and a Master of Nurse Practitioner. She has since worked in inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant and Haematology, and outpatient Medical Oncology.
Rebecca is an active member of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia, an organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in cancer care and control. She currently sits on a Nurse Practitioner committee which is the peak national group for cancer nurse practitioners in Australia. Rebecca also has experience in academic writing having published an article in a cancer nursing journal and participates in cancer-related research projects.
Rebecca currently provides a symptom management service for people undergoing chemotherapy or immunotherapy at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. Her role involves assessing and managing patients’ symptoms related to their cancer or its treatment. Patients and carers are able to self-refer to the service by telephone call, or they may be referred by other clinicians. Rebecca is able to provide complete episodes of care in collaboration with medical oncologists.
