Masako completed her Ph.D performing molecular profiling of human heart failure with Faculty of Medicine Traveling Fellowship (University of Sydney) to Harvard Medical School, USA. During her Ph.D, she also managed the Sydney Heart Bank, which houses over 17,000 heart tissue samples facilitated through collaborations with St Vincent’s Hospital (Sydney), the Australian Red Cross Donor Service and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Masako also has an extensive experience in commercially sponsored medical oncology clinical trials coordination including GMO drug and immunotherapy for Head and Neck SCC.
Her research interests include establishing a comprehensive maxillomandibular reconstruction database, functional and quality of life outcomes and donor site morbidity following maxillomandibular reconstruction. She is also interested in establishing personalised therapy for young oral cavity SCC and recurrent and metastatic SCC patients by generating genomic and transcriptomic profile of their tumours and investigating their chemo and immune sensitivity.
