Lydia completed a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Spanish in 2002 at UNSW and graduated with a Master of Speech and Language Pathology from Macquarie University in 2009.
Before joining the team at Lifehouse in 2017, Lydia worked for several years providing specialist head and neck oncology speech pathology services to patients after surgery and during chemo-radiotherapy at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and more recently at Westmead Hospital in Sydney. She was also a co-convener of the Victorian Dysphagia Interest Group from 2013 to 2017.
Lydia has special interest in complex swallowing disorders, surgical voice restoration after laryngectomy, staff education and training, and implementing research evidence into clinical practice. She has advanced training in instrumental swallowing assessment including, Videofluoroscopy and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, tracheostomy management as well as competency in nasendoscopy.
Lydia is dedicated to providing patient-centered care and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for communication and swallowing.
