Associate Professor Carsten E Palme is an otolaryngology head and neck surgeon and clinical associate professor in surgery at the University of Sydney. A/Prof Palme holds clinical appointments at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Westmead Hospital, Sydney. He is also a visiting medical officer at Westmead Private Hospital, Macquarie Private Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital.
After attending medical school at the University of Sydney A/Prof Palme completed four years of advanced training in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.
A/Prof Palme completed post-training fellowships in the American Head and Neck Society Head and Neck Oncology Program, University of Toronto, Canada and in Laser Head and Neck Surgery, University of Göttingen, Germany.
He is the inaugural recipient in 2009 of the Chris O’Brien Travelling Fellowship Award of the American Head and Neck Society. In 2011 Dr Palme was awarded the Coman Kennedy Laser Scholarship and in 2012 Dr Palme was included in the ‘Best Doctors’ Australian and New Zealand database.
A/Prof Palme’s clinical interests include head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, salivary gland disorders and voice and laser surgery.
