Michael Sides was born 19 July 1966 and passed away at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse on 13 July 2017, only 5 weeks after diagnosis.As a descendant of Wayilwan speaking people of Ngiyampaa country, his country is located between the Barwon/Darling River in the north, the Castlereagh River to the east, the Bogan River to the west, with the Macquarie River flowing from the south into the floodplains of the Macquarie Marshes. On 28 October 2017 the family will conduct a ceremony at the Macquarie Marshes when his ashes will be returned to his country.
Michael’s passions were his family, culture and rugby league. Michael leaves behind his parents, sister, niece, 2 children and 8 grandchildren. He played rugby league from an early age and later coached his son’s team. He was a passionate supporter of the South Sydney Bunnies.
