When you or someone close to you is diagnosed with cancer you want access to high quality information about the disease, its treatment and the services that are available. In the Lifehouse Lounge we have a range of books and brochures aimed at providing information and support for patients and carers.
Situated on the Ground Floor of the Lifehouse facility, the Lounge is a soothing and supportive place where you can go to take a break, catch up with friends, or do some quiet thinking. It’s there for you, whether you’re dealing with your own cancer or looking after someone you love who has cancer.
The Lounge is a non-clinical area with a big and welcoming communal kitchen space and a lounge area with comfy chairs and beanbags. You can also use computers for research – or just to keep in touch with friends and family.
There’s no need to make an appointment. Drop in whenever you need to… and stay as long as you like.
Group support and information sessions are held in the group room of the LivingRoom – our integrative medicine centre.
While you’ll find plenty of information about cancer and its treatment on the internet, the quality and accuracy of the information varies enormously. Therefore, it is very important to talk to a member of your Lifehouse care team about whether the information you find is relevant to your situation.
Lifehouse does not endorse particular websites, however we can suggest the following sites as a good place to start your research:
- Cancer Institute NSW, Australia
- American Society of Clinical Oncology – Cancer Net, USA
- Cancer BACUP, UK
- National Cancer Institute, USA
- American Cancer Society
