This year will be six years since Chris O’Brien Lifehouse opened, and ten years since the passing of Professor Chris O’Brien AO. During this hallmark year, we take a moment to celebrate Chris’s legacy and the remarkable milestones we have achieved because of your support.
During the anniversary week of Chris’s passing, we ran a series of ChrisChats to reflect on how we keep ourselves true to our vision of transforming cancer treatment through discovery, research and uncompromising care. We touched on the importance of compassion in healthcare, and the clinical trials, research breakthroughs and personalised treatment that give hope to so many patients.
This year, we have welcomed two more specialist nurses to the areas of lung cancer and pain management, and a clinical trials coordinator to further our vital research into sarcoma treatments. Last month, we were proud to hold the inaugural Chris O’Brien Symposium in head and neck cancer, which saw some international leaders in this field travel to Sydney to learn and share the latest in research into trends and treatments in head and neck oncology.
None of this would be possible without the generosity and vision of our donor community. Your support provides a sanctuary of hope, strength and comfort for people with cancer and their loved ones. Because of you, we can continue our ambitious research and clinical trials that improve outcomes and give hope to those with cancer, both now and into the future. For this, I cannot thank you enough.
