The Hon. Brad Hazzard MP visited Radiation Oncology today to launch the Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator (Linac). The New South Wales Minister for Health was impressed both by the innovative technology and the dedication of ‘RadOnc’ staff.
“The innovation of the TrueBeam in targeting only cancerous areas highlights the ongoing progress of cancer treatment and care. Cancer survivorship has increased greatly in the past 25 years.
But I know that your commitment to making patients feel at ease as they go through radiation therapy is also something that can’t be underestimated.”
The Minister’s comments were warmly received by Lifehouse patients, board, executives and staff. After appraising the Linac and inspecting the photo artwork on the ceiling above the machine, Minister Hazzard took centre stage in front of the (appropriately branded) bright green curtain outside, to officially open the TrueBeam Linear Accelerator. But in a flash, he switched it up by asking RadOnc Staffer, Anukreti Arya, to come forward and assist him in his duties.
Working in tandem, and to the satisfaction of onlookers, the curtain was duly opened and the Linac was launched. Chris O’Brien Lifehouse thanks the Minister for his continued interest and support of our work in transforming cancer treatment and care.
