With 120 beds, 18 beds ICU, Radiation oncology, chemotherapy, theatres, co-located research and clinical trials and a comprehensive supportive care service we offer comprehensive treatment across all tumour streams underpinned by evidenced based practice creating improved patient experience and clinical outcomes.
After 2 years of running a growing service across 2 wards and sharing a manager, in 2022 we plan to appoint a Nursing Unit Manager to our 9 North Medical Oncology Ward. This opportunity would be suitable for a first management appointment as there will be transition and guidance from the current manager. Alternatively, if you are interested to join a specialist oncology hospital and bring your current knowledge and experience, we are keen to hear from you.
The ward provides 24 private rooms with in-suite facilities, fully electric beds with inbuilt pressure relieving and falls alert mattresses, individual air conditioning capacity and access to fresh air with balconies and opening windows. Technologies include bedside terminal for patient education, rounding and meal ordering and nurse call integrated to phone systems reducing noise.
The NUM is supported by the unit -based nurse educator and palliative care CNS’s to ensure seamless care including chemotherapy, acute symptom management, young adult sarcoma service and end of life care. A comprehensive allied health team including social work physio, OT, dietetics, speech pathology and psychology complements the nursing team.
The successful candidate will join the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse clinical management team and be involved in key leadership committees of the hospital.

- Current AHPRA registration
- Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience
- Post graduate qualifications in the oncology speciality.
- Alignment with the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Values
- Strong focus on person centred compassionate care.
- Working knowledge of the National Standards.
- Management qualifications or working /willing to work towards
- Private sector experience
