We are proud to welcome Grace Ramos as our new head and neck clinical nurse specialist. Grace has been at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse for the last five years and was previously working in neurosurgery and ICU.
In her new role, Grace works closely with the head and neck cancer multidisciplinary team to provide our patients with the best care possible. She looks after patients before, during and after their operations, with her main focus being how best to manage post-operative care.
Grace was first introduced to cancer 10 years ago when she was studying to become a registered nurse and her mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She says, “I remember the nurses being fantastic with my mum, so I just wanted to give back.”
Since then Grace has become an integral part of our head and neck cancer department, which is one of the biggest in the country. Her favourite part of the job is interacting with patients and helping to make them feel comfortable here at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
When Grace isn’t caring for patients, you can find her binging Netflix or out on the basketball court with her husband. However, she’s not playing at the moment because she has a baby boy due in mid-October! He’s expected to be an excellent basketball player despite his mum only being 5 foot tall.
If you see Grace, please be sure to congratulate her on her new position!
