Are you passionate about working with people experiencing cancer to ensure their voices are heard? Do you have ideas about how to improve the understanding, experiences and outcomes for people with cancer?
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse cancer hospital, based in Camperdown in Sydney’s inner west, is looking for additional members of the community to build on the diversity of our team in volunteering with The Partnership Advisory Council.
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is a not-for-profit, cancer hospital offering care from screening, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and to wellness. Cancer patients can access all the services they need in one place, , including advanced onco-surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, clinical trials, research, education, complementary therapies and psychosocial support.
What do we do ?
The Partnership Advisory Council (PAC) was formed in 2013 to represent consumers at Lifehouse to ensure health services, research and major decisions are considering community views.
The PAC is an independent body that advises the Lifehouse Executive Committee on all patient experience matters. The mission of The PAC is to represent the voice of the patient and enhance their journey through advocacy and influence.
So how can I get involved ?
The PAC is currently looking for new members to add to its diverse and experienced group, meeting for two hours every second month at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. Members of The PAC are cancer survivors, carers and consumers who have been involved in the cancer journey.
This is a voluntary position and members are selected on their ability to:
- understand the needs, experiences and healthcare concerns of different consumer groups and communities that access Lifehouse services.
- be involved in broad community issues and have experience as an active community participant or community representative.
- Represent the patient voice in Lifehouse governance committees.
- Work cohesively and actively on a committee.
- Participate in development and thought leadership in delivering patient and family centric projects.
Further information on The PAC and current members is available on the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse website.
