Welcome to Chris O'Brien Lifehouse
For inpatients, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is more than a hospital, it’s a place where we consider your needs as a patient first in everything we do. Whether you’re with us for a short or extended stay, our team is here to help you feel comfortable and support your wellbeing throughout every stage of your cancer journey.
Facilities and model of care
Chris O'Brien Lifehouse offers an integrated, patient-centred model of care which combines the best in cancer treatment, research, education and supportive services all under one roof, with patient care led by multidisciplinary teams which take into account the holistic needs of every person we treat.
Our inpatient facilities include 125 overnight beds in beautifully appointed private rooms with ensuite, a state-of-the-art intensive care unit and eight surgical theatres. Inpatients also have access to our full range of supportive services including complementary therapies offered through the Lifehouse LivingRoom such as massage, reflexology, exercise physiology, nutrition consultations and counselling and psycho-oncology services.
Inside our rooms
In designing the hospital we drew upon the patient’s experience to create inpatient rooms that provide unmatched care and comfort. Each overnight room is private and equipped with a comfortable bed, an ensuite, a flat screen TV, and a state of the art infotainment system, with many rooms boasting beautiful views of the Sydney skyline. You and your visitors can enjoy WiFi in patient rooms and throughout the wards, so a familiar face is only a Skype call or email away.
Meals
Patients can choose their breakfast, lunch and dinner from a seasonal rotating menu cooked fresh each day.
In addition, we have a soup trolley visiting patients before lunch and dinner, and a dessert trolley visiting each room with a daily variety of choices.
